An opportunity for earlySTEMer kids to showcase their creativity and coding skills. Junior (Scratch) and Senior (Python) tracks. June 9 – 14, 2025. Live virtual event for finalists. Up to ₦500,000 in prizes plus discounts on earlySTEMer’s Summer Camp.

Categories

Junior Category (Ages 6–10) – Scratch

Areas covered: Instructions, Sequencing, Loops, Events, Variables, Keyboard control, Conditions, Sounds

Penalty shoot game in Scratch

Senior Category (Ages 10–18) – Python

Areas covered: Variables, Lists, Conditions, Loops, String and List operations, Functions

Important Notes:

  • Each participant may only compete in one category.
  • A student younger than 10 may be allowed to participate in the Senior Category (Python) if internally assessed and found capable by the earlySTEMer team.
  • However, older students cannot participate in the Junior Category (Scratch).
  • Registration for the competition closes on June 2, 2025.

Competition Timeline

Round 1: Code Challenge

  • June 9-10

Participants work through a set of pre-defined practical questions for a maximum of 100 points.

  • Challenges can be completed within a period of 2 days
  • Top 10 scorers from each category move to the next round
  • In the case of a tie, choose by fastest to complete the quiz

Final Round: Project Creation & Live Presentation

  • JUNE 11-14

Theme: “Tech for Everyday Life”
(Encouraging kids to build something useful, fun, or helpful with technology, like a calculator, quiz game, etc.)

  • Build a unique project based on the theme
  • Present projects live via Zoom
  • Peer and Panel Judging

Deadlines & Submission Policy

  • No Submissions after the official deadline
  • Participants are encouraged to communicate early if they foresee any challenges in submitting on time

  • 1st Place: ₦100,000 + 10% off Summer Camp
