What is STEM and why is it important for my child?

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. As we are in the age of Technology, STEM skills such as Coding and Robotics are important to lay the right foundation for kids and the future of work. Furthermore, STEM education is one of the ways to equip kids with 21st-century skills such as Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Creativity.

What is earlySTEMer?

earlySTEMer is a platform designed for kids to learn STEM skills. Using this platform, kids learn online, work on projects, some of which will be submitted and graded by a human tutor, and also get one-on-one tutoring when they need help.

How much does this service cost?

Our pricing plans are designed to be simple and also flexible to different needs. You can also sign up for free to try some lessons in our Scratch introductory course.

What do I need to get started?

All that is needed to start is a laptop/computer with Internet connection. Tablets may also be used but with limited functionality depending on the course.

What course should my child start with?

Upon enrollment, kids will start with the Introduction to Coding using Scratch course and then progress from there.

What are the age restrictions for this service?

While our courses do not have age restrictions, enrolled kids must be able to read fluently so that they can work on their projects with minimal help from an adult.

How long will it take to complete a course?

This depends on the course and also how much time a child dedicates to learning. Most of our courses are designed to be completed in 1 month assuming that a child spends between 3-5 hours every week working on them.

What should my child do if he/she runs into a problem they can't solve?

Every child enrolled on our platform has access to tutors to walk them through any challenges they may face. Kids can send messages to their tutors about the challenges they are having and live video calls can be scheduled to resolve these issues.

When are tutors available to help?

Tutors are available to answer questions all week, Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. All times are in West Africa Time (WAT).
